Nature Friendly

You can see and hear abundant wildlife from the doorstep of Chestnut Barn.

I actively seek to attract wildlife onto the premises with planting for bees, butterflies and birds and I have bug boxes and bird feeders located around the property. Local peacocks walk around Aislaby village. Pheasants, grouse, deer, bats, owls, wild birds and so much more are visible from both the barn and its surroundings.

In Yorkshire you are spoilt for choice: moorland, woodland and coast – there are so many opportunities to experience nature at its finest.

Dark Skies Friendly

North Yorkshire is one of the best places in the country to see stars because of the low light pollution levels and clear horizons.

Aislaby is a perfect location since there are few street lights. If you venture out of the village on foot for just a few minutes, you will have an even better view of the night sky.

In the darkest areas of the North York Moors National Park, you can see up to 2,000 stars at any one time.
