We enjoyed a great week in Chestnut Barn. It is exceptionally well equipped for a walking holiday in the North York Moors. Everything you could need is provided and the log burner proved a hit on cold nights. The beds are very comfortable and bedrooms and bathrooms are a good sixe. Plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobe show the attention to detail by the Owner. Highly recommend.

What an amazing place!! We had our family’s ‘fake Christmas’ there and it made it so special! It had everything we needed and more! Beautiful surroundings, great pub and comfy beds! The bathrooms were incredible! Just want to say thank you!

November- 2019
Fantastic cottage. Really well laid out for walking. With heated stone flooring to the ground floor and a wet room just off the lobby/ entrance area, the cottage was perfect for muddy walks in North Yorkshire in November. Great facilities too. The showers are amazing and the layout of the Kitchen/ living space meant cooking Sunday lunch was more involving and communal. On walking holidays late in the year you need 3 things; Great showers/ baths, great heating and a comfortable place to relax. This has it all. The beds/ mattresses were also fantastic.

Chestnut Barn is set in a beautiful village and has stunning views. The barn is cosy and warm and dog friendly. I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Yorkshire. We had a lovely week here visiting the surrounding area and could not of wished for a better place to stop.

October – 2019
The barn was very well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owner includes lots of little extras that you might not initially think about, such as firelighters (for the log burner), extra loo rolls etc. We had a mixed party including an 8 week old baby and an elderly family member and everyone enjoyed their stay. One key feature of the barn is the overall size – it’s really spacious both upstairs and down so plenty of room for a mixed party. Happy to recommend and would certainly book a return stay in the future.

July – 2019
Chestnut Barn was one of the most comfortable holiday cottages that we’ve stayed in. Every year I take my daughter and two boys away and it’s always a bit of a gamble, but Chestnut Barn had a cupboard stuffed with games for those rainy days. The furnishings were top notch and the owner was unobtrusive but available if needed. I would highly recommend the property.

April – 2019
We found Chestnut Barn perfect, with everything we needed. The location suited us with pretty countryside and footpaths from the village, very close to the Forge (village pub) and just a few miles from the sea.

March – 2019
The barn was beautiful and in a perfect location. It had everything you wanted and more. There was plenty of information about where to go and what restaurants to go to, which was super helpful. We can’t wait to go back soon

March – 2019
The barn was amazing, very clean and comfortable. The village was beautiful and had some lovely walks. We will definitely be going back.

February – 2019
Chestnut Barn, was exquisite and such a perfect location. It was a home from home. The beds were super comfortable, everything was lovely and attention to detail was fabulous. Loved it! Would definitely like to return here when visiting this area again as it was just perfect.

February – 2019
Lovely cottage located just outside of Whitby, in a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire coast and moors. The cottage was lovely and spacious, it had everything you needed and more. The log burner was lovely on the cold nights. Loads of parking and a lovely pub in walking distance.

May – 2018

Everything included in the barn that you could ever want or need for a family week away – and I mean everything. Fittings all of the highest standard, tastefully decorated, clean, easy to live in – a very successful week.

May – 2018

Would highly recommend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It is self catering however everything but the food was provided for us, right down to espresso coffee machine and salt and pepper!

April – 2018

We thought Chestnut Barn was a great place for a comfortable weekend away. The facilities are superb and the owner of the Barn has made it a very welcoming experience. Highly recommended

March – 2018

A wonderful, high quality modern conversion of this beautiful old barn. With beautiful detailing like the wrought iron balustrade, contemporary styled wet room and deep comfy sofas/ The weather was cold and blustery and we just loved the underfloor heating. Very well appointed accommodation with good equipment. The coffee machine was a bonus.

Chestnut Barn is beautiful, it has clearly been restored lovingly and to a high standard. It was nice to read a bit of history about the cottage in the information book. Other information in there was very useful too. We’ve had 3 generations of our family, plus 2 dogs, all recently staying there together for a week. We had a fun, relaxing time. The games cupboard was very handy. It was foog to play Snakes and Ladders and do jigsaws, rather than spending time on electronic gadgets. We had a lovely time. Thank you!

November – 2017

We really enjoyed our stay at Chestnut Barn, it was warm, comfy and had all the mod cons. We have visited many cottages in the past years in and around Whitby but this property exceeds them all. Hoping to book again for next year.

August – 2017

Ilona was a fantastic host, and has clearly put a lot of effort into renovating the property to a fantastic standard. It was exactly as shown in the photos and the brief directions given on the booking confirmation helped us find the discreet entrance with ease. There are a wide range of facilities in the cottage, the BBQ was an added bonus, and the games and DVD’s provided for the family were a lovely added touch. We didn’t get the opportunity to use the log burner bu imagine it makes the barn very cosy during the winter. The village was quiet and peaceful but full of friendly locals. We advise booking The Forge, Sunday lunch was delicious. Whitby is a short journey away with lots of attractions, pubs and of course fish & chip shops – a must at least once during any stay.

May – 2017

Beautiful barn with lovely views! Very clean, well equipped and in a brilliant location. We felt like we were in the countryside with the seaside only 3 miles away in Whitby. Aislaby village is lovely and peaceful with a nice pub only a short walk away. The owner was very friendly and on hand if we needed anything. We would highly recommend this property and would definitely come again.

April – 2017

Chestnut Barn went above and beyond our expectations. We chose this property as we needed a downstairs bedroom and wetroom for one party member and Chestnut Barn delivered in all aspects. Facilities offered were to a very high standard. Five star facility throughout.

April – 2017

Chose this property due to it’s availability of a wet room and downstairs bedroom. On arrival, we were totally overwhelmed by the standard of this excellent holiday let. It delivered everything we needed, and a whole lot more. Everything we could of wished for was provided. This barn conversion has been completed to a seriously high standard, which cannot fail but to impress. Suited us, as a family of two pensioners, myself and my wife with mobility issues and my 14 year old son. Couldn’t have asked for more.

March – 2017

Lovely cottage ideally situated to explore the North York Moors are. We used the car very little – walking to different villages and using the trains and bus network to get back. Dog friendly area and all the pubs we used allowed dogs inside. Would highly recommend staying in Chestnut Barn, it is finished to a very high standard and in a great location.

January – 2017

Great location! Set within the North York Moors National Park this barn offers everything you need and more. You get beautiful landscape views and you can easily reach the best North Yorkshire beaches and villages. There aren’t shops in the village but Whitby is only a 5min drive. We were 2 families with 2 small children (two 2yrs old, a 1yr old and an infant) and we never ran out of anything. There’s also a traditional pub only a few minutes walk which offers delicious fod and they’re very friendly. The barn is nice and cozy and with the underfloor heating the cottage is always nice and warm. The barn is equipped with board games and good sound system if you plan to have a lazy day. For families, there is also a good highchair. I can’t fault this place, we travel a lot as a family and this has been the best cottage we’ve been too, plus North Yorkshire is beautiful. It’s been like being in a hotel with the home facilities. We’ve had a lovely time and would recommend this place to families as well as groups of friends!

December – 2016

This cottage was perfect for our stay over Christmas. There were 6 of us in the cottage with another two visiting for meals etc. and there was plenty of room for us all. The cottage is finished to a really high standard and the owner was extremely welcoming – she’d even baked a Christmas cake for us! The lounge/ kitchen area was really cosy and meant that you can still socialise when cooking and the wood burner was fab for adding to the cosy atmosphere and the warmth! There is everything that you need in the cottage and although we went in the winter, it would be a great place to stay in the summer for the beaches or for a hiking or biking holiday too. Aislaby is a great little village with a really lovely village pub. Whitby is really easily accessible and there are fabulous beaches nearby. There are regular buses from the village to Whitby. The cottage is set in a great location with fabulous views. We will definitely come back!

December – 2016

We had the honour of being the first guests to stay in this stunning barn conversion. We had a very friendly welcome from the owner, the village is charming with a warm welcome in the local pub. All the fixtures and furniture in the barn is high quality and the log burner was much appreciated after bracing walks on the nearby beaches. Very comfortable, we relaxed straight away and had a great family Christmas. Will definately be back!
